So a massive finish to NJL yesterday with Cleeve Park Red just pipping Byng Hall Red Ben Mckay, Isabel Webb, Emily Koester, Oli Matthews. Ben finished unbeaten on the day, the team went into the final session one point ahead of Cleeve Red with all to play for in the final, we only needed to draw to win the whole event, but despite some amazing games from all our players, Ben won his two, we now needed the girls to pick up one between them, but it wasn't to be on the day, despite a valiant effort from both Issy and Emily producing some outstanding performances and a few 5 setter marathons, in particular the last match of the day between Emily & Mate Nagypal which again went to five with Emily being 9-6 down in the fifth and battling back to finally lose out at deuce. So we had to settle for Silver with Cleeve going home with Gold. Huge thanks to all the team for making the event so successful through these terrible Covid restrictions. Nick Smith, Neil Marsden, Tony Davies, Rob Webb, Mark Dodd to name but a few.

Hi All, please find results & averages for round 1 NJL. For those checking this out I must first explain the format of the event to give a perspective of what the placings mean. Bare with me, here we go! Firstly the higher perceived standards of the teams are placed in Div 2 and the lower perceived teams are placed in Div 1. The top placed teams from Div 2 after this round go up to Div 1 and the 2 bottom placed teams in Div 1 go down to Div 2, are you following me so far! this is the case for session 2 on the 27th November, for session 3 on the 22nd January 2022 only the top team of Div 2 goes up and the bottom team of Div 1 goes down, leaving all the strongest teams in Div 1 and the remaining teams in Div 2 for the final session on 26th February. This format means all the teams and all the players compete with everybody regardless of standard and also provides a final event to play for winner and runners up positions and medals for their respective Divisions.
