| Jurate and Jas Dominate in Slough | ||
The Cippenham 2 star Senior and Junior Grand Prix series held at the Cippenham Table tennis centre in Slough was dominated by Jurate Brazaityte and Jasmin Ould from Byng Hall table tennis club based at the St Johns Junior School in Tunbridge Wells. The two top players from the club who just recently dominated the Kent county championships winning all the major junior and senior events convincingly have gone one better to top their season with a clean sweep of this major grand prix series.Jurate Brazaityte the current Kent county senior women’s champion and coach at the Byng Hall Club went into the last of the 5 event series on Sunday 24 th May with an unassailable lead in the points tally for the overall championship position. Jurate’s consistent performance over the 5 event series where she won 3 out of the 5 events and runner up in one of them, gave her the overall title trophy and a cheque for £200.Jasmin Ould went into this event brim full of confidence having already won the junior series trophy and a cheque for £100 but was never in the running for any senior accolades as she was only in fourth place overall; however that was to change on the day. Jasmin a pupil from St Greggs School went on to win this particular event and in doing so moved up from forth place in the overall points tally to claim second spot in the final standings and her share of the prize fund and a well deserved £150 cheque for her efforts. Jasmin also picked some notable maximum national senior ranking point wins on her route to the final including the scalp of Julie Furber from Wales and Ike Humphrey from Japan in the final. For any further information contact Gary Howes 07768742414 |
