Jasmin Ould of the Byng Hall table Tennis club belies her age to topple some of the top senior women in the country, at the Bristol Grand prix over the weekend of the 1 st-2 nd November. In the Women’s Band 2 event on the Saturday Jasmin Ould played some incredible table tennis to get to the final of the event. Her path to the final saw her gain straight sets wins over Tressa Armitage in the last eight stage, and then another similar margin win against Sally Hoang to reach the final with Rachel Pilgrim. Jasmin’s winning streak came to an end here though as the experienced Pilgrim who is ranked well over 1000 national ranking points above Jasmin, won in straight sets. Never the less a good performance and another runner’s ups trophy to add to the collection, to go with the won she recently picked up in Newcastle. Fourteen year old Jas Ould caused some major upsets in women’s open event, recording brilliant victories over 2 nd seeded Welsh international Naomi Wilson who would be the number 2 ranked women in the country on her current rating, in the group stage, and then to come back from two sets to love down to gain another famous result over 5 th seeded Stephanie Donnelly ranked 23 in England to reach the last eight. The Byng Hall youngster’s run came to an end by Sanja Clements 11 th on the England senior list, losing in straight sets, but must take huge credit for her achievements |
