The new centre which was opened on the 24/06/2002 came to fruition through the liaison with the head of St Johns School, Andy Blundell who has been supportive of the table tennis activities that the club has been involved in over the years, the root of which was supported by the previous head Leslie Bowman.

The double aspect of the hall will accomodate 6 full grade 2 courts or 8 practice tables. The lighting will be second to none. Its computer aided design will be ablel to produce over 1000 lux of light over the entire hall for premier matches and can be turned down to 500 lux for general use.

The design of the hall gives the club flexibility to close off half the hall for league matches and still allow the other hall to be used for coaching and practice, a unique feature.
Centres like this are so often talked about but seldom achieved so it is an extremely exciting time for everyone involved.
This amalgamation with the school where many fo the clubs started playing gives direct access to over 650 pupils from reception to age 11 which , uniquely is the age group that needs targeting for the start of any table tennis career.
