Reports

The Regional Trials for the Junior Girls were held at BATTS in Harlow on Saturday. Representing the Byng and Kent was Sarah Hubbard. In her first regional trials and first real season of entering national competitions, it was thought this event would be a good learning experience for Sarah, although the thought of qualifying was far from anyone's minds.

Sarah drew County Champion Gemma Yarnley in her group. Gemma who is now ranked in the top ten in England, should have been a challenge to far for the young miss Hubbard, but upsetting reputations is becoming Sarah's forte. So true to form Sarah beat Gemma 3 sets to 1. A truly amazing win!!!

Not content with one maximum win, Sarah then went on to qualify for the afternoon session. In her final match of the day Sarah had to face another Kent opponent and an occasional Byng player Jodie Stringer. Sarah again upset the form book by beating Jodie which meant she then qualified for the National Trials.

Well done Sarah!!

The Cadet girls event took place on Sunday also at BATTS. Representing the club and county was Chloe Dunmall. Following the success of Sarah the day before the pressure was on Chloe to qualify too. In typical Chloe style she rose to the challenge!!!

The format was two groups of 7 with a play off in the afternoon. Chloe was in devastating form and won all the matches in her group, even coming from 2 sets down to beat Stacey Furnival of Sussex. As she didn't lose a game CHloe topped her group going into the afternoon session.

She then faced Amanda Smith in the final, an unknown who was upsetting all the form books. Chloe played ok but it wasn't to be. But it was still a great performance as she finished Second overall and also qualified for the National Trials.

Well Done Chloe!!
